Body & Vibe Over 45
POWER, EXPRESSION and MOBILITY
FOR GROWN-ASS WOMEN
November 21-28
with Kristina Canizares and Kerri Kresinski
At Casa Chango in Puerto Escondido, Mexico
Spend a WEEK in PARADISE with new friends, the beach, delicious, fresh, local food, and get into your body in all the juicy ways!
Gen X women are redefining what it means to be femme and over 45. We are not content to fade in the scaffolding of the world, silently holding it all together while our bodies and voices cease to be of interest to a youth-obsessed world. Fuck that!
The availability of MRT is just one part of an emerging body of research showing how much exercise, diet, and attitude can shift our quality of life as menopause rampages through our bodies. We still have choices, agency, and so much power. Not to diminish the challenges we face, we can support ourselves and each other to fight back against any intimations of obsolescence.
Join Kerri and Kristina, two lifelong performers and physical artists with many decades of coaching experience in an exploration of tools and tactics for marching into middle age with strength, grace, and humor.
This retreat will have 2 daily classes –
Morning sessions from Kristina:
Not Today Death – Strategies for healthy exercise in peri- and menopausal bodies. How do we need to shift our approach to working out when our bodies are in constant flux? What are the most important tools in our toolbox to fight muscle and bone density loss? What if aesthetics ceases to be as important to the way that we work out and we are freed up to work on feeling fantastic?
Afternoon sessions with Kerri:
Pathways of Movement & Expression – We will tune into our feeling bodies, and work with tools to explore how to listen and let our bodies guide us. Each class is an exploration of curiosity and how to follow somatic, emotional, and experiential prompts to discover how movement can be healing and revealing. This class includes writing, sharing, and observing in an inclusive, non-judgmental setting. We are invited to support ourselves and each other to celebrate our creative process and discover the confidence to be big and bold!
Special evening session
When you walk your grown ass into a room, what do you want people to see? When we are young our beauty and youth are our currency, but as that currency fades we have a choice. Either we mourn its passing and fight to get it back or we imagine all the other things that we can be now that we are free of that pressure. This workshop brainstorms all the parts of ourselves that we want to cultivate in this phase of our life and offers exercises to embody those archetypes and keep turning heads with our fierce, unapologetic power.
When you aren’t practicing, you’ll be eating amazing, healthy food, lounging at the pool, swimming in the ocean, reading in hammocks, and enjoying being in nature. Get ready to move, play, breathe, feel, stretch, and express. At Casa Chango you are invited to shine and be yourself!

Kristina Canisares
Based in Los Angeles, Kristina “Nekyia” Cañizares began coaching after a career as a dancer, burlesque queen, and circus contortionist. She founded her company Fit & Bendy in 2012 in Los Angeles where she works with many of the industry’s top performers including musicians, actors, dancers, aerialists, pole competitors, and stunt artists. Kristina’s passion for healthy range of motion is born of her own healing journey. Throughout most of her 20s, she struggled with disability and chronic pain, due in part to hypermobility. Contortion training was part of her recovery, teaching her the mobility skills to control her muscles and joints and inspiring her to study the body and become a coach specializing in movement challenges like hypermobility, chronic tightness, persistent pain, and prolonged immobility. Starting at the age of 30 Kristina trained with renowned Mongolian contortionist Serchmaa Byamba at San Francisco Circus Center and began performing a doubles act with Serchmaa three years later. In 2009 she co-founded the contortion program at Cirque School LA and in 2010 she won the Princess of Burlesque Award at the Burlesque Hall of Fame in Las Vegas. From 2012-2019 she was on the board of directors of BurlyCon and she now tours the world as a celebrity trainer for musicians and actors. She is writing a book on demystifying flexibility training and runs a body care clinic for strippers and sex workers in LA. She loves her derpy dogs.

Sophie Sandweiss, 2022
“Big thanks! As a first ever yoga retreat I fear I have been hugely spoiled. Your offering was amazing. The yoga was so individualized with great instruction, the accommodations were beautiful and peaceful, the circus instruction was unexpected and fun. I had a lot of private time to hang with my daughter. And of course the food was delicious, healthy, clean and full of fun ethnicity. Everything seemed over the top. I have nothing to offer to have made the experience better. I will certainly spread the word.”
Janice Chapler – Berkeley CA 2017

ECO RETREAT CENTER
Casa Chango is an Eco Retreat Center. We do our best to live in harmony with the natural world. We are off grid, and use 100% solar power. We have dry composting toilets and use the humanure and food waste to create soil to feed the amazing plants and trees all around the property. We ask all of our staff and guests to come with the mindset of learning about and respecting nature. The gray water from our sinks and showers filter out to water the plants. Therefore we ask you to bring natural shampoos, conditioners, and toothpaste to your retreat. All of our buildings were designed and built to be cool and comfortable, and we hope you enjoy your stay with us.
Casa Chango is an animal friendly place. There are several friendly animals on site including dogs and cats. They will not enter your rooms, but they will be on property and in common areas during your retreat. Animal lovers will be in their happy place.
Native insects live in this area of Mexico. We fumigate regularly to keep insects away and out of your rooms. We also acknowledge that the insects are an important part of keeping nature in balance. Most of the community spaces at Casa Chango, including the gym, dining area, pool, lounge are open air which means there are no walls. You can expect to see a variety of native insects, birds, and lizards during your visit. We hope you enjoy the experience of living more connected to nature.
